Yocan Coil Compatibility Chart: QUAD vs XTAL vs Ceramic

Yocan coil names describe heating construction, not universal fit. “Quartz,” “ceramic,” “QUAD,” “XTAL,” and “TGT” can appear across different product families, but two parts using the same material are not automatically interchangeable. Start with the exact device model, then choose among the compatible options for that model.

Dual quartz coils

A dual quartz coil normally uses two quartz rods wrapped with heating wire. The direct construction heats rapidly and is common in Evolve-family concentrate pens. It suits shoppers who value quick response and a familiar exposed-coil design.

The important word is the model name before “dual quartz.” An Evolve Plus dual quartz replacement is sold for the Evolve Plus family; it should not be treated as a universal quartz coil for every Yocan pen.

Replace a quartz-rod coil when rods are cracked, wire is displaced, resistance warnings continue, or cleaning no longer restores consistent performance. Do not scrape the rods with metal — the coil cleaning guide covers the safe routine.

QUAD coils

QUAD generally refers to a four-rod quartz arrangement intended for more heating surface than a dual-rod design. The Yocan Evolve Plus XL is the best-known example. The larger assembly is part of the XL platform, including its chamber and cap dimensions.

A QUAD coil is not automatically an “upgrade” for a smaller Evolve device. More heating elements also mean different electrical demand and physical clearance. Use it only where the model documentation lists it.

Ceramic donut coils

Ceramic donut designs use a ring-shaped ceramic heating element without exposed wrapped quartz rods. They spread heat across the ceramic surface and respond differently from a direct rod-and-wire coil. Some owners prefer this style for controlled, even heating; others prefer the faster response of quartz.

Ceramic is not indestructible. Thermal shock, scraping, overtightening, and hard impacts can crack the element. A ceramic replacement must still match the device family, threading, and cap.

XTAL and TGT technology

XTAL is Yocan's name for quartz-based heating technology used in several newer model-specific assemblies. TGT combines heating materials in a larger integrated design; Yocan describes the Pillar TGT coil as combining a ceramic donut with quartz XTAL rods. These names indicate architecture, but TGT parts are not one universal size.

Compare the full product name on the replacement package with the device. A Cubex TGT assembly and a Pillar TGT assembly may share a technology label while differing in dimensions and application.

Coil-less quartz cups and terp pearls

The Orbit uses a quartz cup without the exposed rod-and-wire layout of an Evolve coil. Two quartz balls sit in the cup and move with airflow to redistribute material and heat. This assembly is specific to the Orbit platform.

Do not add random pearls to a conventional exposed coil or another chamber. Pearl size, airflow, cup clearance, and heating design need to work together. The Orbit terp-pearl guide explains the intended cup setup.

Dry-herb coils are a separate category

Products such as Evolve-D use dry-herb-specific heating parts. A similar diameter does not make a concentrate coil suitable for flower or vice versa. Loading the wrong material into a chamber can block airflow, damage the element, and produce poor results.

Always read the replacement title and intended material. “Evolve” in two names does not erase the difference between Evolve concentrate and Evolve-D dry-herb families.

How to verify a replacement before opening it

Match four things: exact device name, replacement name, supported material, and included cap or seals. Compare the old and new part without installing: thread diameter, height, contact position, airflow openings, and cap fit should align.

If the package or listing is ambiguous, ask support with the device model and a photo of the original part. Once a consumable coil is opened or used, return options may be limited.

Buying enough without overstocking

A multi-pack reduces downtime, but avoid buying a large quantity until you have confirmed compatibility and decided which heating style you prefer. Store unused coils dry, sealed, and away from heat. Keep the package label so the next order uses the exact same family.

Compatibility comes before material preference. Once the device family is correct, quartz, ceramic, QUAD, or TGT becomes a useful performance choice instead of an expensive guess.
